Show your love for the planet and support bills to reduce plastic pollution

This Valentine's Day, we want to send a message to Oregon legislators: Please show your love for the planet by supporting bills to prevent plastic pollution.

Subject: Show your love for the planet by supporting SB 543, SB 544 and SB 545

Your Letter:

This Valentine's Day, please show your love for the planet by committing to support bills that will help Oregon rise above plastic pollution.

Specifically, please support:

*Foam-Free Oregon (Senate Bill 543) would prohibit the use of polystyrene foam food items including bowls, plates, cups, lids, clamshells or other containers and prohibit the sale of polystyrene foam packing peanuts and coolers by January 1, 2025. The bill would also prohibit the use of toxic PFAS forever chemicals in food containers.

*Reducing Plastic at the Source (Senate Bill 544) would require producers to reduce the amount of single-use plastic packaging and food items by 25% over the next decade and move to reusable and refillable packaging.

*Enabling Reuse (Senate Bill 545) would update our health code to enable customers to bring reusable and refillable containers for food.

We need to shift away from our throwaway culture and create an economy in which we produce less waste, build products that last and can be reused or repaired, and recycle the rest.

Please do everything you can to put Oregon on a path to a more sustainable future.
